Marketplace Fees
This guide explains how marketplace fees and buyer checkout costs can be created, displayed, adjusted, and reviewed across listings, orders, promotions, refunds, delivery, tax, and seller finance. The rates shown are the current marketplace settings for this site and can be updated by the marketplace owner.
Overview
Marketplace fees can be created at several points in the marketplace workflow. Some fees are attached to listing features, some are calculated when an order is placed, and paid promotional placements are handled before they go live.
The marketplace can also use category-specific fee groups, which means two listings with different categories or sale formats may not always use the same fee rule. Sellers should use this page as a guide, then review Seller Finance for the actual records created against their own account.

Buyer Costs
Buyers should be able to see the full checkout total before placing an order. The visible total can include the item price, selected quantity, delivery service, tax when enabled, and any future buyer-side marketplace charge if the marketplace owner decides to use one.
At the moment, this marketplace does not show a separate buyer marketplace service fee. Buyers may still pay the product price, delivery, and tax where the marketplace has tax enabled.

Seller Listing And Feature Fees
Listing and feature fees can apply when sellers use optional listing tools. These charges are separate from the final value fee that may be calculated after a sale.
Feature fees are useful when a seller chooses extra selling tools such as Buy Now on an auction, reserve price, or other listing upgrades. They help the marketplace charge for optional visibility or listing functionality without changing the base product price.
- Buy Now Feature Fee£0.35
- Auction Buy Now Fee£0.35
- Auction Reserve Feature Fee£0.35
Final Value Fees
A final value fee is usually calculated from the order value when an item sells. The exact fee can depend on the category, listing format, configured fee group, and marketplace settings.
If no category-specific fee group applies, the marketplace can fall back to the default final value fee. Sellers can review recorded final value fees from Seller Finance and from listing fee records where available.
Featured Product Placement
Featured Product Placement lets sellers promote a live product in the homepage Featured Finds section. The seller chooses an eligible live product, selects a placement length, and the placement stays pending until payment is recorded.
This works best when the listing is already buyer-ready: clear title, strong product images, accurate price, stock available, delivery set up, and item specifics completed.
| Placement Length | Current Price | Best Used For |
|---|---|---|
| 3 Days | £3.00 | Short product tests or quick visibility. |
| 7 Days | £5.00 | New stock, seasonal products, or stronger visibility windows. |
| 14 Days | £8.00 | New stock, seasonal products, or stronger visibility windows. |
| 30 Days | £12.00 | Longer campaigns for key products or store promotion. |
Payment And Payout Settings
Payment and payout settings affect how seller balances are shown. In marketplace checkout mode, buyer payments are recorded against the marketplace and seller payout is calculated after fees, refunds, and adjustments.
Where seller-direct payment is available, the finance view can still track commission due, feature fees, and seller payment readiness so the marketplace has a clear record.

Current Fee Groups
Fee groups allow the marketplace to organise fees by purpose, category, or listing format. This is useful when different departments, auction features, final value categories, or listing upgrades need different pricing.

Refunds And Discounts
Refunds and discounts can change how seller finance records look after an order. A refund may reduce the amount due to a seller, and depending on the marketplace policy it may also adjust related marketplace fees.
Coupons can also affect the value used for commission calculations. The marketplace can calculate commission from the original order value or from the discounted order value, depending on the current setting.

Seller Finance Records
Sellers should use Seller Finance for actual records rather than relying only on the public fee guide. Finance pages show gross sales, payment records, marketplace fees, refunds, payout status, commission due, listing feature fees, and recent fee history.
Seller Earnings gives a report-style view of gross sales, marketplace deductions, refunds, net earnings, payout ready amounts, and payout paid amounts. These records help sellers reconcile marketplace activity with their own accounts.
